DNP 825 Reflection Journal Paper Example
Throughout DNP 825, there was tremendous amount of knowledge gained not only academically but with use of technology as well. In this course I gained knowledge not only with utilizing the library and resources, learning new evidence based practice, epidemiology, but Typhon as well. Below I will reflect on my weekly progress throughout the course and how it made an impact on my success in the class and growth for future DNP courses.
Week 1(05/02): During the initial week of this course I became acquainted with setting goals and beginning practice hours with preceptor. Individual Success Plan was established, course work began, and I was off to learn more about DNP and what healthcare had to offer.
Week 2 (05/09): This was my second week spending time with preceptor and patients in course DNP 825. Ten hours was utilized this week learning how epidemiology plays a role in healthcare. Descriptive epidemiology is applied to healthcare and essential in the public health setting. Direct Practice Improvement Project was completed to expand upon my DPI Project which relates to African American HTN Medication Regimen.

Week 4 (05/23): This week was focusing on health concerns for underdeveloped countries. There were no assignments this week just discussion posts.
Week 5 (05/30): This week was utilized for discussion posts. In this week’s discussion posts ethics were focused on human rights and the role of DNP prepared nurses. There were no assignments due this week so no hours were obtained.
Week 6 (06/06): This week focused on application of public health concepts for the uninsured. In this assignment 10 hours were obtained and a case report was conducted. This case report focused on childhood obesity in underserved populations.
Week 7 (06/13): This week’s focus was implementing and evaluation of public health theories with the use of epidemiology. This assignment focused on evidence based practice and prevention. It is important as healthcare providers to ensure implementation is done with proper education and resources. As a healthcare provider, our ultimate goal is to provide quality and effective care for patients and make sure their needs are met. In the underserved community these factors are important. Ten hours were utilized for this assignment.
Week 8 (06/20): This was the last and final week of DNP 825. This week I completed all my necessary paper work, assignments, and Typhon logs. This week showed me that weekly I made progress throughout the course and the profession of nursing overall. Health care delivery, nursing theories and clinical systems were expanded on throughout the course to help address healthcare management. The population of my practice hours were underserved, and some changes were helpful. Implementing teaching tools, medication management, and the use of patient portals were continued in this course. I was able to expand on my strengths of educational teaching and being resourceful. Resources utilized included cheaper medication prices, referrals to necessary healthcare providers, education for patients, teaching tools to utilize necessary equipment, and follow up calls after appointments. Overall this course has strengthened my leadership skills and helped me expand upon information that was learned. I look forward to future classes and one day obtaining DNP degree.Discussion: Private/Public Insurance
