Many scholarly studies support the rationale for implementing telehealth technology in the current healthcare systems. However, it is essential to select credible sources that provide reliable insights into the topic. In this assessment, I selected four credible sources from reputable databases, such as BMC, PubMed, PLOS ONE, and the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The search criteria for selecting these journal articles entailed leveraging keywords and subtitles such as “the importance of telehealth technology,” “telehealth and improved care quality,” and telehealth in the COVID-19 pandemic.” Further, I conducted a comprehensive appraisal of these evidence sources by using the CRAAP test framework that enables researchers to appraise evidence by considering five profound thresholds; currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose. In this sense, the search narrowed down to peer-reviewed journal articles published within the last five years (2017-2022) that provide justifications for implementing telehealth technology in different healthcare settings.

However, the effectiveness of this technology relies massively upon the ability to address barriers that compromise people’s capacity to embrace telehealth. Based on findings from the reviewed literature, healthcare organizations and policymakers should implement measures for improving internet connectivity in rural settings, train and educate community members on telehealth, transform reimbursement models, and foster patient privacy and data security by safeguarding telehealth systems and encouraging evidence-based data safeguards. These strategies can improve telehealth utilization and improve care quality, timeliness, equity, and accessibility.

A well-prepared annotated bibliography is a comprehensive commentary on the content of scholarly publications and other sources of evidence about a selected nursing-related technology. A bibliography of this type provides a vehicle for workplace discussion to address gaps in nursing practice and to improve patient care outcomes. As nurses become more accountable in their practice, they are being called upon to expand their role of caregiver and advocate to include fostering research and scholarship to advance nursing practice. Preparation
