UNICEF and its partners also treat many children for severe acute malnutrition (SAM), preventing them from suffering the terrible consequences of SAM, one of which is death (Manu et al., 2018). Furthermore, by campaigning for and assisting millions of girls with education access, UNICEF and partners prevent them from child marriages, which would otherwise predispose them to teenage pregnancies, compromising their health, education, and future employment dreams.

UNICEF and its stakeholders may encounter several challenges when providing services to its beneficiaries. In certain societies, where males are considered superior, there exist norms that fuel discrimination and harmful practices, which may result in female children being excluded from significant events (Taylor & Salyakina, 2019). UNICEF programs to raise awareness and support for female child education aim to remove negative gender stereotypes. Poverty also isolates individuals from the decisions that most influence their life and puts barriers in the way of children’s education and health. Education is one of the many areas of a child’s life that UNICEF prioritizes, since it illuminates their future, allowing them to secure employment, increase their income, and therefore reduce poverty. Physical obstacles such as inadequate roads hinder children’s ability to live a healthy and safe existence free of poverty, illnesses, and ignorance. To achieve SDG 3.6, UNICEF collaborates with WHO and other global organizations to promote global road safety, remove healthcare disparities caused by poor roads, and decrease the number of worldwide fatalities and injuries from road traffic incidents. While these variables may impair UNICEF’s efforts to provide services, the organization avoids potential disparities in service delivery by taking into account all children, regardless of where they are born and the socioeconomic features of their households.

The Impact of Funding Sources, Policy, and Legislation on the Agency’s Provision of Services

UNICEF needs funds to run its activities seamlessly. There are also policies and guidelines to follow to guarantee that the agency’s services promote children’s rights and support equal opportunity. Furthermore, the organization promotes HIV treatment for children and women, improves childhood and maternal nutrition, improves hygiene and sanitation, promotes education, and provides humanitarian assistance after natural calamities (Clark et al., 2020). The agency is generally concerned about children’s health and education, two critical pillars to developing a pool of healthy, informed, and competent individuals valuable to a country’s economy.

Nurses play an important role in accomplishing UNICEF’s goals as healthcare professionals, health advocates, and change agents. As the majority of the healthcare workforce, nurses work in a variety of settings, such as health prevention and promotion units, and are tasked with providing immunization services, promoting and supporting breastfeeding, managing disease screening programs, and appropriately referring patients to various institutions (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019).
