            One of my professional career goals is to enhance my networking skills. I believe that when I improve my networking skills, it will be easy to connect with other professionals in the healthcare sector. As a result, it will be easy to have people that can support my career and my growth. Since I have worked in various nursing institutions, I have attended different workshops and conferences. Through this, it has been easy for me to participate in multiple nursing-related forums. As a  result, my network has expanded, and I want it to continue growing so that I can easily have more contacts and relate with other professional nurses. Besides, it will be easy for me to achieve my career goals since I will have friends and colleagues to help me achieve my goals and objectives. Since I want to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner in the future, networking will create potential career openings. Since I have gathered some experience through networking, it will be easy for me to start my psychiatric institution.

Another professional goal is to become a mentor for someone else. I have several mentors who have helped me grow to this level. I believe I can be a good mentor and alleviate some of the young aspiring nurses to become the best in their fields. As a current correctional nurse, I am gaining enough skills to interact with various people. These skills will help me become a good mentor in the future. My professional experiences have helped prepare me for Pace University’s graduate study. I now have excellent time management skills, which will help me manage my time as a student and correctional nurse. Through this, it will be easy for me to manage all the tasks I will be assigned at the healthcare institution and, at the same time, perform well in class. The graduate program will help me improve my skills and knowledge of interacting with diverse people. Besides, the new knowledge and skills I will gain at the university will help me become a great psychiatric nurse practitioner.

One of the plans that will help me alter my professional and personal obligations to have the time needed for graduate study is to have a robust support system. First, I must let my employer know I am pursuing the graduate program and when I will start it. Following this, we shall work with the manager on a flexible schedule that will make it easy for me to attend my classes and, at the same time, attend to all my duties and responsibilities at the workplace. At home, I will let all my family members know so they can release me from some of the responsibilities like running errands and doing some chores at home. This will help me concentrate at work and give me enough time to complete my studies without significant difficulties. I will also have to learn more about time management, which is a crucial trait for graduate students. I will focus more on working smart, not hard. This is achieved by working closely with my support system at work and home. Through this, I will complete all my duties and attend all my classes on time.

A problem facing healthcare institutions in the United States is the nursing shortage. According to Sevilla Guerra et al. (2021), the nursing shortage is rampant in the country due to the aging population and retiring nurses. Following this, there are abundant opportunities for nurses nationwide. Most nurses work long hours and end up being overwhelmed by dealing with so many patients. As a result, it beco9mes har4d for the nurses to deliver quality care to all the patients as sometimes the nurses are tired and cannot deal with all the patients. It is therefore essential to ensure that the problem is solved as soon as possible, as this will ensure that quality care is given to all patients. In this case, advanced practice registered nurses should ensure that they engage the public in continuous education about various health issues. Through this, it will be easy for the public to engage in multiple preventive measures to reduce the probability of the hospital ending up. The more people go to hospitals, and the more tired the nurses will be as there will be a heavy workload for them. Through continuous civic education, it will be easy to manage the patients who go to the hospitals. Besides, advanced nurses should embrace technology so that it becomes easy to manage the heavy workload. As discussed, many nurses are retiring making it hard for the current ones to deal with many patients. However, technology will ensure that the nurses can deal with many patients within a short time. The government should therefore ensure that all healthcare institutions have adequate resources that enable advanced nurse practitioners to use technology and educate the public about various disease preventive measures.
